What is Involved in a Yearly Spa Service?
If you have a spa, there are a number of different things that you will have to do in order to take care of it. In short, you want to make sure that you get it cleaned annually by a professional spa serviceperson, which we can offer you from our company if you contact us. In this article, we’re going to take a look at some of the things that you can have done during a yearly spa service.
Here is a quick list of the things that a yearly spa service can take care of for you and your family.
- Balance water PH with an electronic meter
- Check any and all air diverters and air controls
- Check cover lift operation and the retaining clips that are being used to hold them in place.
- Check hose lines and jets for leaks, blockages, proper operation and pressure.
- Check operation of other extra things, including ozonators and other accessories
- Check pumps, including the seals, the covers, noise, and water pressure.
- Check shell and cover for damage
- Check the heating unit, look for leaks or malfunctions, and repair or replace as necessary.
- Check the operation of the topside of the spa in order to ensure that the full system is working properly.
- Check the settings and check for any leaks in the filtration system; install new filters if necessary.
- Check to make sure the suctions work and clean them out so that they continue to work.
- Clean any and all acrylic surfaces, including the headrests that are on the spa.
- Drain the spa out fully and replace the water after the cleaning processes are finished.
- Make sure that the lights and the light lenses are intact and that they are working as they should
- Re-stain the stairs if necessary and/or putting new anti-slip material on them; in some cases, they may even recommend that you replace your stairs.
- Rinse debris and other junk out of your spa so that, when it is refilled, the entire spa is clean.
- Vacuum out any remaining water after the water has been drained so that all the water put into the spa afterwards is fresh.
A special note about spa covers. Your service person will check out your spa cover every year to make sure that it is not suffering from wear and tear. That being said, you want to make sure that you replace your cover about every 3 to 5 years, and your service person will let you know when it’s almost time for you to consider it. Why do you have to replace it so often? After a while, the water and the steam will get into the little nooks and crannies of your cover, making it very heavy to lift and hard to move around. It also will not provide the same level of insulation that it did before those changes started to occur. That being said, your service person can bring a new cover with them if you purchase it ahead of time, and take the old cover away to be disposed of during your annual spa service. This goes the same for any mechanical lifters that you may be using in order to take the spa cover on and off.
Whatever you decide that you are going to do with your spa, make sure that yearly maintenance is on your list of “to do’s.” That way, you can be sure that your spa is always in top condition and that your family will be able to enjoy it for many years to come.
